Following the devastating fire that ravaged Kantamanto Market in Accra on Thursday, January 2, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his sympathies. The blaze, which began at sunrise, left over 30, 000 investors displaced and caused major loss.
The President expressed his profound regret over the horror during his last State of the Nation address on Friday, January 3, 2024. ” The disastrous blaze at Kantamanto Market tuesday, which has left some investors and their lives in ruins, has deeply sadden me. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and I extend heartfelt sentiments to the hard-working investors who have lost their products and purchases”, he said.
He further assured the subjects that the government may cooperate closely with important organizations to find out the cause of the fire and support their treatment. The state” stands with you and will work with relevant companies to investigate the causes of the fireplace and provide the necessary help,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo pleaded with Citizens to show sympathy and cooperation to those affected and called for national unity. ” Collectively, we may extend a helping hand to our fellow Citizens in need during this difficult time”, he noted.
One life was lost in the tragic event, and 14 people were injured severely, adding to the grief of the group who was affected. As studies continue, investors are faced with the difficult process of rebuilding their companies and livelihoods amid the rubble.
