In the Anambra gubernatorial election, ADC candidate John Nwosu confronts Soludo regarding his ‘offensive’ remarks.

John Nwosu, a candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and opponent of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election, has raised concerns over Soludo’s alleged derogatory remarks about other candidates. During a rally in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, Soludo stated that “street urchins cannot govern a state that has produced notable figures,” and remarked that anyone vowing to serve a single term while adhering to the state’s zoning guidelines requires psychiatric help. In response, Nwosu argued that Soludo’s comments demonstrate a lack of intelligence and are an attempt to deflect blame for his administration’s failures. He criticized the governor for resorting to insults and stereotypes against his political opponents, claiming such behavior indicates that Soludo is anxious regarding the possibility of being a one-term governor due to his unsatisfactory performance in office. He mentioned that several candidates from the same area (Anambra South) as Soludo, himself included, have committed to serving a single term to honor the state’s zoning policy, emphasizing that this is a demonstration of statesmanship, integrity, and fairness for the region. “I, Nwosu, distinguish myself as the sole candidate who has publicly affirmed, through an affidavit, my dedication to serving just one term in office.” This public oath reflects a commitment to justice and adherence to the law—principles that deserve recognition, not disdain. “Instead of throwing insults at those providing the people of Anambra with a more promising option, Governor Soludo should concentrate on addressing the failures of his administration and clarifying why the commitments of his term have yet to be realized.” He ridiculed Soludo by stating, “Clearly, passing six does not equate to demonstrating understanding.” Anambra should embrace e-government instead of Soludo’s outdated model.
