INEC registers 4,423 new voters in Anambra

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Anambra has announced that it has registered 4,423 eligible voters in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise in the state.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Agwu, disclosed this during a briefing on Wednesday in Awka.

The commission had reportedly registered 2.8 million voters in 2025 ahead of the governorship election in the state.

“We have started the CVR in Anambra. The exercise commenced on January 5 and will end on April 17, 2026.

“In the ongoing second phase of this registration exercise, we have registered a total of 4,423 voters in the state.

“The ongoing exercise is being conducted rotationally across the 326 wards in the state,” she said.

She explained that the rotational method is intended to ensure grassroots registration throughout the state.

Dr. Agwu encouraged eligible voters to visit their local government offices or the INEC head office in the state to register.

The REC cautioned against double registration, noting that the digital system would automatically reject such attempts.

“If you have an issue with your Permanent Voter Card or registration, it will be resolved when you report it. Do not attempt double registration.

“If you have already been captured, do not undergo another capture. Instead, update your details if there is an issue with your registration,” she advised.
