
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has ordered the perimeter fencing of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin to ensure security of staff and students of the polytechnic and check further encroachment on the institution’s land.
Dr Jimoh Abdul Mohammed, Rector of the polytechnic, revealed this on Monday, at a media parley organized by the department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies, in conjunction with the Information and Publications Division, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The rector, said the institution had cried out to the governor following the continued encroachment of its land, a phenomenon he described as “a big age-long challenge” to the polytechnic.
He said the perimeter fence would not only check further encroachment on the polytechnic’s land but would also ensure security of lives and property of Kwarans and non Kwarans in the institution.
“The polytechnic is being faced with the challenge of encroachment of its land, which is a big challenge and our governor has given his approval for the perimeter fencing of the polytechnic.
“He is very compassionate in a way that he has given us directive that we should ensure that no building is demolished”, the rector said.
In his paper presentation, titled “The New Kwara in KwaraPoly”, Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Kwara state governor, Mallam Saadu Salaudeen, said the administration of mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq through his huge investment in education is gradually achieving the dream of the polytechnic’s founding fathers.
“By restoring funding, modernizing infrastructure, introducing digital literacy, and elevating KWARAPOLY’s status, the governor has consolidated the vision of the founding fathers and kept alive our collective hope.
“The ultimate aspiration to see the Kwara State Polytechnic transform into a University of Technology is now closer to realization than ever before, backed by a proven track record of institutional investment”, he stated.
