Jigawa By-Election: PDP reviews candidates, expresses confidence in winning against APC and NNPP.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the successful screening of Auwalu Isah Manzo as their candidate for the upcoming Garki/Babura House of Representatives by-election in Jigawa State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) previously set August 16, 2025, for this election following the passing of Isa Dogon Yaro on May 10, 2024, at the age of 46. After the screening, Precious Ben, the Secretary of the screening committee at the PDP National headquarters in Abuja, stated that they had successfully vetted the candidate for the Garki/Babura constituency by-election. She mentioned that a five-member committee was formed by the PDP to travel to Jigawa for the candidate’s screening to confirm his eligibility for the party’s nomination. Ben confirmed, “We have screened the candidate successfully; he provided all necessary documents, thus fulfilling the essential requirements of both the Party and INEC.” Considering his extensive experience and popularity, I am confident that he is the ideal candidate for the party and can challenge and win against any opponent from other political parties. After the screening, party candidate Auwalu Manzo spoke with journalists, explaining that he left his job as a civil servant to run for office and make a difference in his constituency. He expressed confidence that his constituents would support him in the upcoming by-election. According to DAILY POST, both the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have submitted their candidates.
