Justice: Amadou Mbaye, dit Eumeu, acquitted of the charges of rape

Amadou Mbaye, better known as Eumeu, was acquitted this Tuesday 4 March by the criminal chamber. The 22-year-old was acquitted of the rape of his two minor cousins, after having spent two years in detention. As a reminder, he had been arrested on 3 November 2023, an affair that had provoked a lively controversy and a large mobilization on social networks, including on the platform X (formerly Twitter). Throughout the proceedings, his relatives and supporters denounced a detention they considered unjustified, claiming his innocence. The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has ruled that Amadou Mbaye is not entitled to a fair trial under the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
