Justice in danger: more than 3 billion CFA francs lost due to non-execution of judicial decisions
This morning, the Minister of Justice, Ousmane Diagne, opened the National Conference of Chief Prosecutors, a key annual event for the actors of criminal justice in Senegal. In his speech, Ousmane Diagne stressed the importance of the independence of the judiciary in guaranteeing fundamental freedoms and maintaining social balance. However, it has also put forward the need for an effective penal system that contributes to the mobilization of public resources. According to him, the recovery of fines and confiscations could represent a significant source of revenue for the State. This situation raises questions about the efficiency of the judicial system and the need for reforms to improve the collection of fines. Ousmane Diagne therefore called for a greater mobilisation of justice actors to ensure that judicial decisions are applied and that financial resources owed to the State are effectively recovered.
