Kaduna police kill two bandits, foil planned attack on villageĀ

The police command in Kaduna State has killed two suspected armed bandits and recovered arms and ammunition during a security operation in Giwalga area of Bayan Kogi District.

The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the police acted on credible intelligence that a bandit group, believed to be led by Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, had mobilised its members to attack Idissu Village after residents allegedly failed to pay a levy imposed on them.

Makama said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, working alongside local vigilantes from Idissu village, were deployed to the area to prevent the attack.

The post added that the bandits laid ambush and engaged the security team in a gunfight after sighting the operatives.Ā

However, the combined team reportedly overpowered the suspects with superior firepower, killing two of them, while others escaped into nearby bushes.

ā€œDuring the operation, two AK-47 rifles and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered at the scene,ā€ Makama wrote.

Security sources said the surrounding areas have been cordoned off, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Investigation into the incident has begun, the police said, as the command reaffirmed its commitment to combating banditry and other criminal activities across Kaduna State.Ā
