A lively tension erupted in the Babacar Cobar Ndao de Kaffrine high school after the end of classes on Thursday at 1 p.m. It is all part of a control of books carried out by a professor of mathematics before his course. Having noticed that some students had not copied their lessons, he asked them to do so before reintegrating the class. According to Ibrahima Ba, professor in service at Babacar Cobar Ndao lycée and also secretary general of the CUSEMS in the Kaffrine department: “On the way, the students met the headmaster who, after listening to them, decided to bring them back to class. In response to the teacher’s refusal to take them back without them having copied the lesson, the principal ordered their exclusion and suspended the courses in the class concerned. “To protest against this decision, the CUSEMS and SAEMS unions held a general assembly on Friday at 9 o’clock. At a meeting held on Saturday 8 March, the faculty adopted an action plan which included a break on Monday and Tuesday and a press conference. They also announce the boycott of the class councils and an administrative disobedience towards the principal, whose departure they demand”, he said.
