Kano government confirms rescue of kidnapped local official, arrest of suspects 

The Kano State Government has announced a major success in the case involving the kidnapping of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government, Alhaji Hamza Durya.

According to the government, via the State Commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, Durya was taken from his home in Durya village, Kibiya area.

Following the incident, security agencies in the state quickly launched efforts to rescue him and apprehend those responsible.

“In a swift and coordinated operation, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers who sustained bullet wounds during the operation,” the statement added.

The government described the development as encouraging and commended the professionalism and dedication of the security personnel involved.

Officials also praised the DSS and other security agencies for their rapid response and continued efforts to protect lives and property across the state.

They noted that the success demonstrates the effectiveness of current security strategies across all 44 local government areas in Kano.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was also lauded for supporting security agencies with the resources they require, which has enhanced their operational effectiveness.

The Kano State Government reassured residents of its ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and security.

It urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation is vital to keeping communities safe.

The government added that it will continue collaborating with all relevant partners to ensure Kano remains secure for all residents.
