
Hon. Abdulhakeem Kamilu Ado, a member of the House of Representatives for Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency in Kano State, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a letter dated March 30, 2026, and sent to his ward chairman in Kausani Ward, Ado stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.
He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning.
Explaining his decision, the lawmaker said he intends to join another political party that he believes can better address Nigeria’s challenges.
“This decision is taken in good faith as I found it necessary to align with another political platform and I deem it necessary to move to another platform that proffer effective solution to the national challenges,” he said.
Despite leaving the party, Ado expressed gratitude to the NNPP leadership and his supporters in Wudil and Garko for their backing during his tenure.
His resignation letter was received and acknowledged by the ward chairman, Abdulrashid Umar Ado, on the same day.
