​Kaolack: two fathers of families killed by the foudre, le maire interpelle l’Etat 

  Two fathers of polygamous families, aged 35 years and 45 years respectively, were killed by lightning yesterday, Monday, at around 18 hours in Djilekhar, in the commune of Ndiédieng, Kaolack region, while they were returning from their fields. Under the rain, the two victims, Tamsir Kontèye et Baye Moth Cissé, had taken shelter under a tree. It is in these circumstances that the irreparable has occurred. The Mayor of the locality, Dr. Abdoul Aziz Mbodji, expressed his sadness and offered his condolences to the bereaved families and the inhabitants of the locality. “Unfortunately, it was during labor that I was called with insistence to announce the death of two fathers of the family by lightning. It is sad and we present our condolences to the bereaved families and to the population of Djilekhaar “, he declared in the waves of the RFM. The mayor took advantage of this tragedy to denounce the lack of lightning protection in rural areas, especially in agricultural areas. He also called on the State of Senegal to take concrete and lasting measures, such as the installation of lightning rods, to protect the populations often left to fend for themselves in the face of these deadly natural phenomena.
