Kwatsaduza – Karate legend Charles Mtshali is encouraging club owners and coaches to gather the correct documents for participation.
Mtshali, also part of the Kwa-Thema Sports Council interim committee, said it is essential for clubs to adhere to the regulations of all sporting codes and be managed professionally.
“As people who are working with the youth, we need to get police clearance. Our clubs must be registered and we must produce the relevant qualifications to demonstrate our sports knowledge.
“Our players also need to be registered under the different associations,” he explained.
Mtshali said non-compliance is one of the main reasons that some clubs cannot secure funding from government departments and private businesses.
He also believes there is a wealth of information among those in the sports, arts and culture sector.
“Sporting clubs have to belong to local associations to be well represented. Sometimes it is better for people in the same sporting code to show up as one unit. Councils and confederations mean we will be stronger together,” he added.
