KAROTA starts workers verification to identify ghost employees

The Kano State Roads Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has begun a staff verification exercise aimed at identifying ghost employees in its workforce.

The Managing Director of the agency, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, disclosed this shortly after launching the exercise at the KAROTA headquarters on Club Road in Kano Metropolis.

The Director explained that the agency had gone a long time without conducting such an exercise and felt it was necessary to determine the exact number of staff on its payroll.

“We deem it fit to know the exact number of staff in our workforce,” he said.

He added that the verification would help the agency plan for further training and the provision of modern facilities to enhance operations.

Commenting on the exercise, the Chairman of the Verification Committee and Deputy Managing Director of KAROTA, Alh. Auwalu Lawan Shu’aibu Aranposu, said over 500 staff had been screened on the first day.

“We commend KAROTA personnel for their cooperation and orderly conduct during the exercise,” he said.

He noted that the exercise, which is being conducted in batches, would continue throughout the week.
