Tsakani – The Kasi Rising Stars Empowerment (KRSE) hosted a friendly tournament at the Ext 19 Muzi ground on Saturday.

The Team Talk Netball and Soccer Championship Series is a KRSE initiative. The NPO promotes sports development and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education among the youth of Kwatsaduza.

Their mission is to develop rising stars in the township, allowing young athletes to showcase their talents, develop their skills and reach their full potential.

The series showcases the province’s most talented young athletes and promotes excellence, teamwork and community spirit.

“It took off in style, featuring an exciting lineup of teams in the E-Lite Netball and Soccer Division. The competition promises high-intensity action, heart-stopping suspense and unforgettable moments,” explained Asher Manasoe, one of the organisers.

The Super Eagles lose 0-3 to the AMEN Foundation.

The participating teams include the Mighty Titans, the Dynamites, the AMEN Foundation, the Rising Stars, the Super Eagles, Leethuxolo, the Lesedi Amen Netball Club, and others. The Underdogs and the Warriors will join the competition in upcoming matches.

The primary aim of the series is to unite teams in Kwatsaduza, promoting camaraderie, sportsmanship and healthy competition among local teams.

The Mighty Titans crushed the Rising Stars with a 13-1 win. Thando ’The Goal Machine’ Mgoma, the Mighty Titans’ star striker known for her lightning-fast speed and accuracy, led the team to the win.

Mgoma’s skills on the field have earned her a reputation as one of the most feared strikers in the competition.

“On the soccer field, the AMEN Foundation dominated, showcasing impressive skills. The team’s prolific striker is renowned for his clinical finishing and exceptional vision on the field.

The organisation asks loyal supporters, the community and local businesses to support the growth of local sports talent.

On the day, some children played sports in jeans and sandals. The grounds also had overgrown grass and no lines. Yet the young athletes still put on great performances.
