
Governor Agbu Kefas on Monday reaffirmed his administrationās commitment to unlocking the vast solid mineral potential across Taraba State.
He made the declaration while opening the Stakeholdersā Engagement and Validation Workshop on the Mining Sector Roadmap Development in Jalingo, the state capital.
Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Kataps, the governor called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, private investors, host communities, and industry experts to ensure that mining activities in the state are conducted in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
He urged stakeholders to make meaningful contributions towards the development of a comprehensive, practical, and investor-friendly roadmap that would serve as a blueprint for the sectorās growth.
According to Kefas, establishing a structured and transparent mining framework will not only attract responsible investment but also create employment opportunities, boost internally generated revenue, and stimulate economic growth across local communities.
āTaraba is richly endowed with solid minerals and proper regulation, transparency, and adherence to sustainable practices remain central to my administrationās vision for the mining sectorā, Kefas said.
He described the validation workshop as a critical step towards repositioning the state as a leading mining destination in Nigeria.
The workshop is expected to produce a validated roadmap that will guide policy direction, strengthen value chain development, and position Taraba as a competitive hub within Nigeriaās mining industry.
