Kogi: Gov Ododo reveals leader, members of cabals in his administration

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has publicly acknowledged the existence of cabals within his administration, describing them as instrumental to the successes recorded so far by his government.

The governor made the disclosure while speaking at a public event in his hometown on Sunday.

In a light-hearted but pointed remark, Ododo openly admitted belonging to a cabal and praised the effectiveness of the current one working with him.

“I want to formally appreciate the leader of my own cabal. I was a member of a cabal before, but our own cabal could not perform the way this present cabal is working,” the governor said.

He added that effective teamwork, regardless of how it is labelled, should be encouraged if it delivers results.

“If any cabal can work like this, I think we should even have multiple cabals, as many as we can,” Ododo stated.

The governor said he was proud of the structure he described as his cabal, noting that one of its achievements was the project billed for commissioning at the event.

“I am proud to tell you that I have a cabal. One of the achievements of having a cabal is what we are about to commission here today,” he said.

Ododo further disclosed that the leader of his cabal was approved by his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Bello.

“The leader of my own cabal, approved by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is Hajiya Dr Habibat Tijjani Aliyu, FCMA,” he said.

According to the governor, members of the group include key government officials such as the Accountant-General, Auditor-General, party chairman, Special Adviser on Protocol, and the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs.

The governor’s remarks have since sparked reactions, with many interpreting them as a rare and candid admission about the inner workings of political power within government.
