Kun Khalifat FC give reasons for pulling out of NPFL

Kun Khalifat FC have announced their withdrawal from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, DAILY POST reports.

The Owerri club were sanctioned by the NPFL for falling to honour their matchday 24 fixture against El-kanemi Warriors.

The NPFL said the club’s action breached it’s framework and rules.

It, therefore, handed three points and three goals to El-Kanemi Warriors.

Kun Khalifat were also fined N10m as part of their punishment.

The fine is suspended for the rest of the season if no similar offence occurs.

In their reaction, Kun Khalifat described the sanctions as “outrageously disproportionate,” insisting that valid reasons were provided for missing the match but were rejected by the league.

They accused the NPFL of focusing on only revenues, and not prioritizing the safety of players.
