School safety takes centre stage as Kwa-Thema SAPS intensifies searches, uncovering drugs, sharp objects and vapes in local schools.

On May 21, the Kwa-Thema SAPS, in partnership with the Social Crime Prevention Unit, the Department of Community Safety, and Crime Prevention Wardens, conducted school searches in the area.
The first school searched was Lefa-Ifa Secondary School. Two packets of dagga, two vapes, two sharp scissors, four broken mirrors and one cigarette were confiscated.
A total of 1 466 learners were searched at the school. At Sakhelwe Primary School, learners in grades four to seven were searched, and nothing inappropriate was found.
