Kwara agency cautions against unapproved advertisements on tricycles and other vehicles.

The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has expressed worries about the growing number of unregulated ads on mini-transport buses (Korope) and tricycles (Keke Marwa) in the state. During a meeting with various transport association leaders on Friday, Acting General of KWASAA, Toba Adeyeye, pointed out that this situation has allowed scammers and vendors of unapproved drugs and beverages to spread misleading and potentially harmful messages to the public. Adeyeye stressed that the safety and welfare of Kwarans are a top priority for Governor Abdulraham Abdulrazaq, noting that the agency will not allow any advertisements that could jeopardize public safety. The general manager then stated that anyone wishing to advertise on mini buses or tricycles must formally apply to KWASAA, include the proposed advertisement design, and obtain official approval before it can be displayed by transport operators. Alhaji Yemi Aliu, the State Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), assured that he would inform union members of the meeting’s outcomes and ensure that anyone wanting to advertise on vehicles is directed to the agency for proper authorization. Abdulganiyu Isiaka Agba, the Public Relations Officer of the Transport Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), advocated for wider public awareness to inform citizens about KWASAA’s new and commendable regulations. Additionally, Mr. Babatunde Abdulganiyu, the Administrative Secretary of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), confirmed the association’s willingness to collaborate fully with the state government to protect the lives and property of Kwarans. The meeting ended with a strengthened commitment from all parties to work together to promote safe, responsible, and regulated outdoor and transit advertising in Kwara state in line with global best practices.
