Victor Olaiya, the Police Commissioner of Kwara State, urged 96 newly promoted officers to improve professionalism in crime fighting and strengthen community relations according to international best practices. He spoke at the decoration ceremony for these officers, including command spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who was promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP), held at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin. The Commissioner highlighted that the promotion reflects their hard work and commitment to duty, emphasizing the need for accountability and a stronger commitment to ensuring public safety and security in Kwara State. The significant promotions consist of: One officer has been elevated to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mukaila Yusuf (DPO, C Division). Fourteen other officers have been raised to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), which includes Olufemi Abraham (O/C Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SCID), Nkama Onyekwere Oko (A/Cmd, Ilofa), Babatunde Lateef (DPO, Afon Division), and 11 others. Additionally, four officers have been promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP), namely Adetokunbo Aladejare (O/C Legal, SCID), Ihyom Aondongusha (DTO, F Division, Tanke), Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi (PPRO, Kwara Police Command), and Ahmed Bata Mohammed (O/C Provost, 15PMF). Among the 77 officers promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) are Orogbemi Dupe (2I/C, Chaplaincy) and Yusuf Zaharaddeen Chiri (P. A. to CP Kwara), Idachaba Laraba Enemona (Legal Dept. , SCID), along with 74 others. The CP also thanked Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and Police Service Commission Chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, for prioritizing the welfare of police officers. A statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, noted, “Kwara Police Command is dedicated to safeguarding lives and property and urges the public to continue cooperating in the fight against crime.”
