Le parquet fédéral belge a requis le renvoi devant le tribunal correctionnel d’Étienne Davignon, seul survivant parmi les dix personnalités visées dans l’enquête sur l’assassinat de Patrice Lumumba en 1961.. Âgé de 92 ans, l’ancien ministre d’État et diplomate belge pourrait être jugé pour « crimes de guerre », notamment pour détention et transfert illégal de prisonnier, privation de procès équitable et traitements dégradants.. Cette demande relance une procédure initiée en 2011 par la famille de l’ancien Premier ministre congolais. Une commission belge avait déjà reconnu, en 2001, une responsabilité morale de certains acteurs belges dans ce crime historique, survenu peu après l’indépendance du Congo.
