The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has debunked claims that its State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, instructed Supervisory Leadership Groups, SLGs, and supervisors to converge on the party secretariat following alleged directives from the Presidential Villa.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the party’s spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the APC described the report as false, misleading and deliberately circulated to create unnecessary anxiety within the party and among the public.
The party clarified that no such directive emanated from the State Chairman and that there was no emergency meeting convened, contrary to the claims circulating in some quarters.
It stressed that the Lagos APC remains a disciplined and law-abiding organisation, guided by transparency, due process and collective decision-making in the conduct of its affairs.
According to the statement, the party is currently focused on consolidating its structures and intensifying preparations ahead of the forthcoming national elections, rather than engaging in actions capable of causing internal disruption.
“At no time did the State Chairman issue any such directive, nor is there any emergency meeting scheduled as being speculated. The Lagos APC remains a disciplined, transparent and law-abiding political party, guided strictly by due process and collective decision-making,” Oladejo said.
He added that the party’s leadership is concentrating on strengthening internal mechanisms and mobilising members across the state to ensure electoral success.
“Our primary focus at this critical time remains putting every necessary structure in place as we count down to the forthcoming national elections. We are fully committed to strengthening our internal processes and mobilising effectively to ensure continued progress and victory at the polls,” he said.
The party also cautioned its members, supporters and the general public against spreading or acting on unverified information that could unnecessarily heat up the polity.
“We therefore advise party members, supporters and the general public to desist from spreading or entertaining rumours capable of needlessly heating up the polity. The party will continue to keep the public informed of any official updates through our recognised communication channels,” the statement added.
