The Lagos State Government has unveiled a traffic diversion plan in preparation for the Lagos Gran Fondo āEko 170ā Cycling Race, scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the 170-kilometre race, organized by Dynastar Sport and Education Foundation, will feature two distinct routes:
70km Route: Starting at Eko Atlantic, riders will pass through Ahmadu Bello Way, Coastal Road, Okun-Ajah Community Road, Ogombo Road, Abraham Adesanya Junction, Lekki-Epe Expressway, and Sangotedo before returning to the finish line at Eko Atlantic.
170km Route: Also starting at Eko Atlantic, cyclists will follow the same initial path but continue to Epe T-Junction, Ita Marun Junction, Poka-Araga Road, Oke Osho Junction, Temu Road, back to Epe T-Junction, and finally return to Eko Atlantic.
To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, along with other security agencies, will regulate all adjoining roads, junctions, and intersections along the race routes to prevent unauthorized access.
Osiyemi emphasized that while roads along the routes will remain partially open, motorists are advised to remain patient, cooperate with traffic officials, and follow instructions.
He added that these measures are aimed at safeguarding both participants and road users during the event.
The Lagos Gran Fondo āEko 170ā is a mass participation cycling event designed to position Lagos as a premier destination for sports tourism, healthy living, and sustainable mobility.
