Niger President Tchiani’s claim against Tinubu baseless – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has dismissed General Abdourahamane Tchiani’s assertion that President Bola Tinubu is involved in the creation of the Lakurawa terrorist organization as unfounded. Sani emphasized that such a terrorist group could not be sheltered in Nigeria, contrary to Tchiani’s claims. During an interview with Radio-Télévision du Niger, Tchiani accused Tinubu of conspiring with France to destabilize Niger Republic and alleged that the Lakurawa group, supported by foreign security forces, including those from Nigeria, was responsible for the December 13, 2024, attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline in Gaya, Dosso Region. In response, Sani called on the Nigerian and Niger Republic governments to collaborate on combating terrorism. He posted on X: “The claim from Niger’s President regarding Nigeria’s involvement in the formation of the Lakurawa group is unfounded. After enduring over a decade of kidnappings and violence from terrorists, it is unimaginable for such a group to find refuge here. Niger’s President’s statements are baseless, speculative, and a fictional conspiracy theory without credible evidence. The solution lies in Nigeria and Niger joining forces to tackle and eliminate shared threats.”
