Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has again hailed his new signing, Ademola Lookman for his smart playmaking ability.
He, however, said that the team needs some time to figure out where Lookman fits best in their squad.
Lookman, who joined Atletico Madrid in the winter transfer window, played his first game on Thursday night in the Copa del Rey match at the Estadio La Cartuja.
The Nigerian player had a big impact right away, scoring a goal and helping create another one as Atletico Madrid won 5-0 and moved on to the semifinals.
Before Sunday’s La Liga match against Real Betis, Simeone talked to the press.
He said that both the player and the team are still learning to work together.
The Argentine coach said Lookman will get used to Atletico’s way of playing, and the team’s trainers are looking at his strengths to use him in the best way possible.
“We’ll try to get to know each other better. He will start understanding the team, and we will learn about his abilities.” Simeone said, as quoted by Fichajes.
“He has the vision to attack, and they will work with the team to find the best approach.”
Lookman played in the attack with Antoine Griezmann during their win in the Copa del Rey, while Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth were not part of the team.
However, with both forwards set to come back for the match against Betis, Simeone is probably going to have more choices in his tactics as he keeps figuring out the best position for Lookman in the team.
