A former Spanish player, Raúl García, has hailed Ademola Lookman for his great beginning at Atlético Madrid, calling him a “world-class player.”
This comes after Lookman has been doing very well since he joined the team in January.
The Super Eagles player joined the Rojiblancos from Atalanta in the winter transfer window and has become an important part of Diego Simeone’s team quickly.
The Nigerian international has contributed significantly with four goals and four assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
His performances have been widely praised, and García said he is not surprised by how quickly the 28-year-old has adjusted to living in Spain.
In comments shared before Atlético’s big derby game against their city rivals, Real Madrid, on Sunday, the retired Spain veteran praised Lookman’s quick influence.
“He’s hit the ground running. It’s hard to get into the team like he has. I believe he’s a world-class player,” he stated via Europa Press. “I’m not surprised by what he’s achieving.”
Lookman had a great game as Atlético Madrid beat Tottenham Hotspur on aggregate, which means they move on to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian player, who has quickly become important for the Rojiblancos since joining, helped set up the first goal scored by Julián Álvarez in the game.
The 28-year-old will aim to keep up his strong performance as Atlético Madrid look to achieve another crucial win and improve their standing in the title race.
