Land Bank CEO Themba Rikhotso Resigns Ahead Of Taking Up New RoleĀ

Johannesburg – Land Bank CEO Themba Rikhotso has resigned after three years in the role.

The Land Bank’s Board confirmed the resignation on Friday, 6 February 2026, and revealed that Rikhotso will be taking up a role in another South African banking institution. Ā 

Rikhotso joined the Land Bank on 1 April 2023.

He leaves at the end of April 2026.

The Board said Rikhotso assumed leadership at a particularly challenging period for the Land Bank.

He provided steady, focused leadership during a critical phase of the bank’s stabilisation.

During Rikhotso’s tenure, the Board said the bank achieved notable progress in its turnaround programme, including the conclusion of the liability solution, undertaken in close collaboration with lenders and supported by the National Treasury.

These efforts have contributed meaningfully to strengthening the bank’s financial position and its operational resilience.

Skwatsha said the Board remains fully committed to maintaining momentum in the bank’s strategic objectives.

He said processes were underway to ensure leadership continuity and organisational stability.
