East London – Ground Up Sports Promotions has announced the postponement of Xolisani “Nomeva” Ndongeni’s much-anticipated farewell fight and legacy event themed: “The Last Sting of the Wasp”.
The promoter said the boxing bout will now take place in May 2026 at Jan Smuts Stadium, Arcadia, East London.
“This move is due to unforeseen circumstances and provides an opportunity for the organisers to deliver an even better event that meets the magnitude, legacy value, and national significance associated with Ndongeni’s final bow in the professional ring,” said Loyiso Magqaza, CEO of Ground Up Sports Promotions, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
“Further details, including the exact date in May, will be communicated in due course.”
Magqaza stated that Ground Up Sports Promotions remains committed to delivering a landmark sporting occasion for the East London sporting community, the Eastern Cape province, and beyond.
He said the anticipation surrounding “Last Sting of the Wasp” remains high, with expectations of a sold-out arena and a fitting celebration of Ndongeni’s illustrious career.
“Stakeholders, partners, and supporters can rest assured that further announcements and communication around opponent details as well as ticketing information will follow shortly,” said Magqaza.
