Le journaliste Harouna Fall, membre de la rédaction du média iGFM, has been summoned by the Division of Criminal Investigations (DIC) following the publication of an article on the site of iGFM. The information in question, published recently, referred to a presumed attack against a bus carrying Senegalese on their way to Magal de Touba, in Mali. This call raises questions about the freedom of the press and the working conditions of journalists in Senegal. According to information relayed by Seneweb, Harouna Fall was contacted by telephone by a certain Commissaire Diouf, who wished to question her about the article published. The article in question reported that “a bus carrying Senegalese for the Magal would be the victim of an attack in Mali”. This information, which has not been confirmed by official sources, apparently attracted the attention of the Senegalese authorities, leading to the summoning of the journalist.
