In a context of persistent economic challenges and high popular expectations, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced this evening, from the Palais de la République, the composition of a new government. This ministerial reshuffle, highly anticipated after 17 months in office, marks a significant evolution of the leadership team. Ousmane Sonko, faithful ally of the Head of State and emblematic figure of Pastef-Les Patriotes, is re-elected to his post of Prime Minister, confirming the continuity of the duo “Diomaye-Sonko” at the top of the executive. This announcement comes as Senegal faces a heavy public debt and the need to accelerate the reforms promised during the March 2024 election. The new government, composed of 25 ministers and several secretaries of state, emphasized youth, parity and technical expertise, while integrating figures from the opposition and civil society. Unlike the initial team formed in April 2024, this reshuffle introduces notable changes: several outgoing ministers give way to new faces, notably in the key sectors of justice, energy and the economy. The objective is to strengthen administrative efficiency, to fight corruption more vigorously and to boost economic sovereignty, in line with the “Vision Senegal 2050”. The official list, unveiled directly by the Presidency, reflects a desire for diversification and sharp skills.
