​Le Sénégal entre dans l’histoire: The Prime Minister of the French-speaking part of Africa to sign the Artemis Accords 

  Senegal has just reached a major milestone in its march towards the stars. This Thursday, at the headquarters of NASA in Washington, the president of the Senegalese Agency for Space Studies (ASES), Maram Kairé, announced a new historic event: the official adherence of Senegal to the Artemis Accords, making the country the first francophone African state to join this international framework, and the 56th signatory nation. Maram Kairé, expressing “an immense honour, an incommensurable pride” to have signed these agreements alongside the NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The ceremony, marked by the presence of Brian Hughes, Chief of Staff of NASA, and the Ambassador of Senegal in Washington, His Excellency Abdoul Wahab Aidara, was allowed to highlight the vision of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for the development of the Senegalese space sector. A firm ambition to make the country “a dynamic player in the space sector”. According to Maram Kairé, this signature symbolizes more than a simple partnership: “Signing the Artemis agreements means exploring in a peaceful and transparent manner, guaranteeing unlimited access to scientific data from which all humanity can benefit, and developing best practices for conducting space exploration activities in the interest of all. I’m not sure. A new era of collaboration is thus opening up between ASES and NASA. “It was a real pleasure to have had a long exchange with Brian Hughes and his team to define the framework of collaboration”, he concluded, before launching an appeal to optimism: “Together, let’s make Senegal a space nation! ”
