Leadership crisis not peculiar to Africa alone – Yiaga Africa

A non-profit organization, Yiaga Africa, has said that leadership crisis is not just happening in Africa.

Speaking during an interview on ‘The Morning Brief’, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Friday, the Executive Director of the organization, Samson Itodo, said the entire world is grappling with a leadership crisis.

“I’m just listening to the three previous speakers, South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. There’s one thing that is clear, that the entire world is grappling with a leadership crisis, and it’s not just Africa.
“We must acknowledge the fact that across the world there’s an absence of leadership. All the countries that we all look up to have demonstrated that there is no system that is insulated from collapse, from capture.

“So we must acknowledge that across the world, the whole leadership crisis affects us all when we bring it home to Africa, and I’ve listened to those three brilliant previous speakers.

One thing is very, very clear, that the leadership crisis that we grapple with on the continent, manifest in several ways, whether the governance failures, or we see elite capture, as was mentioned in the three countries, including Nigeria.

“You also see authoritarian tendencies, whether it’s Nigeria or it’s Tanzania, including Kenya,” he said.
