Liaison Dakar-Gorée: An ambitious 25.5 billion Fcfa maritime modernisation project has been launched

The National Maritime Affairs Agency (Anam), in partnership with South Korean engineers from the Kre et Dohwa consortium, officially presented a project to modernise the maritime link between Dakar and the island on Thursday in Gorée. The initiative, with a total cost of 25.5 billion FCFA, includes the acquisition of two last generation boats and the construction of a modern quay and a maritime station. Delivery is scheduled for 31 December 2027. This project aims to respond to the recurrent challenges of safety and comfort in the Dakar-Gorée link, currently assured by three ageing vessels performing 12 daily rotations. The Director-General of ANAM, Bécaye Diop, underlined the obsolescence of the existing fleet and the need for a renewal: “The current boats no longer meet the requirements of safety and comfort. I’m not sure. The future hybrid vessels, 36 metres long, will have a capacity of 350 seats each.
