​LOC Announces Members of Committee for Africa U-18/U-20 Athletics Championships    

 

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the joint Confederation of Africa CAA U-18/U-20 Championships taking place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has established several sub-committees to ensure the successful execution of the event. The championship events are scheduled to take place from July 16 to July 20. The Local Organizing Committee, led by Hon. Bukola Olapade, who also serves as the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), emphasized the organization’s dedication to hosting a Championships that will make Nigerians and Africans proud. “Despite the limited time for preparations, we are determined to provide a smooth CAA U-18/U-20 Championships,” he stated. “Our committee members are experts in their fields, and we anticipate they will meet expectations,” Olapade noted. The committees have already begun their work, including the Technical sub-committee, which is led by Olympian Enefiok Udo-Obong. Other members include Olawale Olatunji, Lekan Soetan, Olalekan Adebote, Tosin Solademi, Dr. Mrs. Grace Ataha, and Ashipa Abayomi. The Accommodations sub-committee is chaired by Musa Amadu, with Tunde Aderibigbe, Yinka Titiloye, Derby Onuzulike, and Femi Jaiyesimi as members. The Security sub-committee, led by Olympian Fidelis Gadzama, includes members Dauda Omizi, Solomon Aliyu, Col Abbas Mohammed, Dare Esan, Isiaku Abubakar, and Akinwunmi Fashake. The Media and Publicity sub-committee is chaired by Gowon Akpodonor, with members Michael Azeez Ogunsiji, Ben Efe, Charles Ogundiya, Kola Daniel, Tobi Adepoju Ogajana, and co-opted members Arabirin Aderonke Atoyebi, Suleiman Pooja Adebayo, Chichi Nwoko, Mike Obasi, and Aaron Akerejoia. Arabirin Aderonke Atoyebi chairs the Protocols sub-committee, which includes Iyene Idiong, Sule Salabiu, along with a representative from Nigeria Immigration Services and Ogun State. Former Nigerian triple jumper Rosa Collins leads the Ceremonial/Entertainment sub-committee, with members Shola Ogundele, Oluyomi Sule, Ejiro Okurame, and a representative from Ogun State and Mutiu Oluwa. The Marketing, Branding, and Communication sub-committee is led by Chairman Chichi Nwoko and co-chaired by Osaze Ebueku. The group includes Mirian Opara, Tendai Ruckwava, Melinda Lonbard, Munya Maraire, Marek Mill, and Seun Harper serving as Secretary. The volunteer sub-committee is chaired by Jude Anyadufu, alongside Dr. Joseph Ogabor, Otunba Akin Akinbobola, and Hon. Farouk Yarma, Ebidowei Oweifie, Abiodun Elegbede, and Maria Wophill (co-opted member) along with Enefiok Udo-Obong (co-opted member) are part of the team. The Feeding Sub-committee is led by Babatunde Adeluola as chairman, with Yetunde Onilogbo, Ife Ogunlaja, and Lekan Aroyeun serving as members, while Folashade Falokun takes on the role of secretary. The Transport Sub-committee is headed by Hon. Wasiu Isiaka will serve as the chairman, with Dr. Ademola Are, Abiodun Adebiyi, and Adeniyi Adeyemi comprising the committee members, and Adewale Adedokun acting as the secretary. The Liason Sub-committee is headed by Maria Wophil, with Bamiduro Olumide, Oluode Olubunmi, and Ekanem Benedict as its members, while Taldang Tanimu is the secretary. The Finance Sub-committee is chaired by Ladan Almustapha, along with Ochigbo Ameh, Abi June Francis, and Ahmed Mohammed as members, with Joseph Peter serving as the secretary.
