Tsakani – Jack Mahlangu (47) is known to many as DJ Cross Jack. He was born and raised in Vosloorus but has lived in Tsakani for the past 24 years.
His parents bought him music-related toys when he was in primary school during the 1980s. In 1992, when he started high school, he realised he loved music.
“I began buying cassettes and vinyls. Thereafter, I learnt how to mix my own music. I started marketing my DJing skills at stokvels, street bashes and events around Vosloorus,” said Mahlangu.
He said DJ Fosa The Cool Cat, DJ Vava and DJ Choc inspired him.
In 2022, Mahlangu made his breakthrough as a resident DJ on an SABC radio station and the Simo Captain Zee Zokwana show for two years.
“I was also a resident DJ at Vinko Lifestyle for seven months. I recently joined another local online radio station as a resident DJ. I also play live mixes on social media and specialise in mixtapes,” he added.
Mahlangu aspires to become a music producer within the next two years.
