Local soccer player killed in stabbing.

Tsakani – A local football player was stabbed to death at a friend’s house on December 31, allegedly by a person known to him.

According to information, Percy Ntuli (33) died after an argument between him and the suspect at another friend’s house.

His friend Thamsanqa Mkwanazi admitted it is unclear why the two were arguing but it led to a violent breakout.

“We were all socialising at our friend’s house when the two got into a fight. I advised Percy to apologise to the other, and he did.”

Minutes later, Percy left the group to search for the restroom. According to Mkwanazi, the other man followed him.

“We were all alarmed because he was running out. We suspected there might have been trouble when the two met outside,” he added.

Mkwanazi said the group went out to see what was going on.

“Percy was already on the ground. He was still breathing but not talking. There was blood everywhere,” he recalls.

The men rushed their friend to Pholosong Regional Hospital.

“He was still alive when we got to the hospital. I believed he would recover,” he explained.

Mkwanazi went to his house to wash off his friend’s blood from his body.

Percy’s mother Paulina and his aunt Stella Ntuli say they will miss Percy.

“I rushed back to the hospital, but was told that Percy had died,” concluded Mkwanazi.

Tsakane SAPS confirmed that on December 31, at about 22:30, they received a complaint about a male stabbed to death with a broken bottle on Zulu Street.

On arrival, officers found someone had taken the victim to Pholosong Hospital.

The officers went to Pholosong Hospital, where they found the victim had already passed away. The deceased was identified, and the suspect was arrested on a charge of murder.

Percy’s aunt Betty Ntuli said they are heartbroken by what has happened to her nephew.

“Percy was loving, down to earth, and a very respectful individual who avoided fights at all costs. We are in disbelief that we had to lose him this way. He was a soccer player who devoted himself to soccer; he loved music and loved all his siblings.

“All we want is justice for him. We want the person who killed him to rot in jail and should never be granted bail,” said Betty.
Percy played for Tsakani Bolivia Football Club for many years and served the club with great humanity.

“At some point, he was club captain for a few seasons. He made friends through soccer and was very good at it.

“In his playing career, he won a lot of accolades and through soccer, he has touched many lives.

“He was a passionate soccer player. As Tsakani Bolivia Football Club, we would like to send our condolences to the family, friends, teammates, colleagues and the community,” said Bolivia chairperson Mduduzi Mbokazi.
