Save the children left Senegal after years of engagement. The announcement was made on 20 June, through a communiqué. “After several years of commitment in favour of the rights of the child in Senegal, Save the Children announces the closure of the country office in Senegal, as of the end of September 2025. This decision is part of a global strategic reorganisation aimed at optimising our resources and strengthening our impact across West and Central Africa. It does not call into question our long-term commitment to children, nor our collaboration with civil society partners and the Senegalese authorities”, the document states. The international non-governmental organisation (NGO) recalls that since the beginning of its operations in Senegal, it has worked with determination to improve children’s access to health, education, protection and civic participation.
