Former Spanish tennis player Feliciano Lopez, who was once ranked No. 12 in the world, has expressed the opinion that Novak Djokovic does not currently measure up to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. It is worth noting that Alcaraz and Sinner have each claimed three out of the last six Grand Slam titles. In an interview with Sky Sports Tennis, Lopez mentioned that Djokovic needs to elevate his game to keep pace with both Sinner and Alcaraz. “He hasn’t reached the same level as Carlos and Jannik, particularly over the past 18 months, as the statistics clearly indicate.” However, I was taken aback by his performance against Sinner. “He tested Sinner and took him to the edge,” Lopez added. “Even though there remains a significant difference, I believe grass is the only surface where he can reach their level of play, as the grass surface is quite unique.” Lopez stated that Djokovic has demonstrated he can still perform at a high level, but he is likely to have a greater opportunity on grass.
