​Madrid and Chelsea Hold a Minute of Silence to Remember Jota.    

 

Players and coaches from Real Madrid and Chelsea held a minute of silence before their training sessions to pay tribute to Diogo Jota, who tragically lost his life in a car crash in Spain early Thursday morning. Both teams observed this moment of silence prior to their Wednesday practices as they gear up for their respective matches in the Club World Cup quarter-finals. Jota and his younger sibling, Andre Silva, tragically lost their lives in a car accident involving a Lamborghini. Recently married, Jota was instrumental in helping Liverpool secure their 20th Premier League title last season. He was also a part of the Portuguese national team that triumphed in the UEFA Nations League final against Spain. Additionally, Nigerian players are expressing their sorrow over Jota’s untimely passing. Madrid is set to resume play in the FIFA Club World Cup, taking on Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals this Saturday. Additionally, Chelsea is scheduled to compete against Palmeiras in another quarter-final match on the same day.
