Maduka University matriculates 967 students, reinforces focus on innovation, sustainability

Maduka University matriculated 967 students at its third matriculation ceremony, marking another milestone in its mission to deliver quality, future-focused education.

The ceremony, held at the university’s international stadium, drew dignitaries, academics, and stakeholders from across the South-East and beyond.

Speaking at the event, Chancellor and Founder Samuel Maduka Onyishi emphasized the institution’s long-term vision of building a sustainable and value-driven university system.

“The university is not a 100-metre race but a marathon, continuous process,” he stated.
“Our focus is not just on increasing numbers, but on providing the right environment and facilities for meaningful learning.”

Dr. Onyishi also highlighted the role of innovation and technology in shaping the university’s academic model, noting that strong institutions are built on vision, discipline, and core values.

Delivering the matriculation lecture, Vice-Chancellor Samuel Chijioke Ugwu described education as a critical driver of sustainable development and institutional relevance.

“Universities must produce solutions, not just certificates,” he said.
“Sustainability is not a slogan; it is a disciplined continuity, the decision to build today without destroying tomorrow.”

He further stressed the need for curriculum reform, urging institutions to adopt industry-driven, research-based approaches that promote innovation, critical thinking, and real-world impact.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s “new thinking” philosophy, which focuses on raising entrepreneurial graduates equipped with leadership and decision-making skills.

The matriculation ceremony signals the beginning of a new academic journey for the students, as the university continues to align its vision with global standards in education, sustainability, and innovation.
