In the framework of their forthcoming deployment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the SENFPU 1-18 and 2-18 contingents of the National Gendarmerie received, on Friday, the national flag during a solemn ceremony. It was held on the place d’armes du quartier Samba Diéry Diallo, under the presidency of the brigade general Jean Bernard Bocandé, commandant of the mobile gendarmerie. In front of the military authorities, distinguished guests and the families of the personnel, the 360 gendarmes, 80 of whom are women, have officially completed their pre-deployment phase. Each of the contingents, consisting of 180 elements, is placed under the respective command of the squadron chiefs Adama Goudiaby (SENFPU 1-18) and Amadou Cissokho (SENFPU 2-18). These units are preparing to join the Mission of the United Nations Organization for Stabilization in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), where they will participate in peacekeeping operations in a security context still fragile. During their operational preparation, the contingents were trained to international standards in peacekeeping, including human rights, the protection of civilians, crowd management, and inter-force coordination. By wearing the national colours, these contingents become the worthy representatives of Senegal within the international community, illustrating the active role of the country in UN peacekeeping missions. Through this new contribution to MONUSCO, the Gendarmerie nationale confirms its continued commitment to regional security and stability in Africa. General Bocandé praised the professionalism, discipline and commitment of the personnel deployed, while recalling the values of rigour and exemplarity which they will have to embody on the ground. With this departure, Senegal reaffirms its tradition of excellence in peacekeeping operations, a pillar of its defence diplomacy and its international solidarity. With the Rts
