Mairie de Ziguinchor: Interpellation du régisseur municipal Yahya Massaly for an alleged embezzlement of 27 million FCFA by the French government

L’affaire fait grand bruit à la mairie de Ziguinchor. Yahya Massaly, a municipal regisseur in post since 2018, was arrested on Tuesday by the gendarmerie’s Investigation Section in connection with an investigation into alleged embezzlement of public funds estimated at nearly 27 million CFA francs. According to the information received, the case stemmed from a series of irregularities detected by the receveur municipal, an inspecteur du Trésor public charged, inter alia, with the accounting of the receipts from the sale of municipal vignettes. Yahya Massaly occupied this post since 2018. He had been appointed under the magistère of the former mayor Abdoulaye Baldé, and had been kept in his functions successively by Ousmane Sonko then Djibril Sonko, the current édile de Ziguinchor. The Section de Recherches de la gendarmerie is continuing its investigations to shed light on all the responsibilities, determine possible complicity and establish the exact circuit of the funds allegedly embezzled.
