The defender of AC Milan, Malick Thiaw, has definitively levé le doute on his international future. While many Senegalese supporters expected to see him wearing the Lions’ tunic, the 24-year-old player confirmed having chosen to defend the colours of Germany. Born in Düsseldorf to a Senegalese father and a Finnish mother, Thiaw has long been at the centre of speculation regarding his selection choice. In an interview with the German press, he had to clarify his position: “My priority has always been to play for Germany. I have listened to the plans of Senegal and Finland. I had kept in touch with the other two nations, but I had made it clear from the beginning that Germany remained my priority”.
