Two men were arrested in Tsakani for possession of large quantities of Mandrax pills following an EMPD raid.

Tsakani – Two men, aged 63 and 59, were arrested by EMPD Eastern Region Community Liaison Unit officers on May 30 for possession of illicit substances.
“EMPD officers received information about illicit substances being sold on Nyanyankulu Street in Ext 8, Tsakani. Upon arriving at the location, officers encountered two elderly males counting brown pills.
“When questioned, the suspects admitted that the 47 brown pills were Mandrax. Officers then searched the premises and found a black plastic bag containing five smaller packets, each with 100 Mandrax pills, hidden inside a white Mahindra vehicle parked at the gate,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
Dlamini added that the suspects were taken to the Tsakane Police Station, where they were charged with the possession of illicit substances.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon.
