Many families have been forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing conflict in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, prompting the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to intensify its humanitarian efforts.

The renewed fighting in South Kivu, located in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has led to over 850,000 individuals, nearly half of whom are children, being displaced from their residences. Numerous individuals are enduring unstable living situations, seeking refuge in educational institutions, places of worship, or outdoors, while facing restricted access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. This comes as tens of thousands of families have been forced to flee due to violent conflicts in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, prompting the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to enhance its humanitarian efforts.
