Marquinhos will stay with PSG for his 13th straight season.

According to L’Equipe (as reported by Get French Football News), PSG captain Marquinhos has chosen to stay with the Ligue 1 team for his 13th straight season in the French capital. The future of the Brazilian center-back was uncertain, especially after he helped lead Les Parisiens to their long-desired Champions League title, and with PSG approaching a deal to acquire Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi. The report mentions that Marquinhos took his time to decide that he wanted to continue his career at PSG, despite receiving attractive offers from clubs in the Middle East. Marquinhos has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain that runs until 2028. Even with Zabarnyi’s anticipated arrival, the captain aims to leverage his experience to complicate decision-making for PSG head coach Luis Enrique. Additionally, PSG’s owner stated that they have no regrets about their loss in the Club World Cup final to Chelsea. The ex-AS Roma defender thinks that remaining at PSG is the best choice to secure his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil team for the 2026 World Cup. By making this choice, Marquinhos will match Jean-Marc Pilorget’s record of 13 seasons with the Ligue 1 club.
