Martinez will take Onana’s place at Manchester United.

Emiliano Martínez, the Aston Villa goalkeeper, is poised to take over for André Onana at Manchester United. According to TouchlineX on X (via @LeoParadizo), the Red Devils are in discussions with the Argentine World Cup champion regarding a move to replace Onana. Onana is set to exit Old Trafford, paving the way for Martínez to join Manchester United. The goalkeeper from Cameroon had signed with United from Inter Milan in 2023 after helping Inter reach the Champions League final, where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Manchester City. The 29-year-old has had a challenging season at United, often facing scrutiny for his performances while the team struggled in the Premier League, finishing in the bottom half of the table. Meanwhile, Manchester United is looking to strengthen manager Rúben Amorim’s squad this summer following a disappointing last season, having already added Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
