The Jakarta motorcycle registration campaign, initiated on 06 January by the Ministry of Transport, meets major obstacles in the Matam region. The operation, designed to regulate a hitherto informal sector and to strengthen road safety, encountered administrative difficulties, notably the obtaining of the Certificat de mise à la consommation (CMC). drivers, for the most part operating without official documents, had to provide the required documents, such as the carte grise, the driving licence and the copy of the vendor’s identity document, indispensable to complete the CMC. Faced with these challenges, the mining services, led by Alioune Sarr, directed the subscribers to the customs to try to regularize their situation. To meet the influx of demand and the logistical challenge posed by the size of the region, decentralised depot points are envisaged in the departments of Kanel and Ranérou. According to the local authorities, this is an urgent measure to prevent this crucial campaign for the security and regulation of the sector from ending prematurely.
