A police officer with the 1st precinct of the New York Police Department ( NYPD), Matthew Kear of Oceanside, has died.
Kear’s suicide occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2025, his father Stephen Kear, even a former 4th precinct police agent, announced in a social media post. No cause of death was stated.
Our dear son Matthew passed away on Saturday, according to Stephen, with a “very large and broken soul.” Matthew “had a lot of Love to give,” which he readily gave to anyone who knew him.
On April 2, 1997, Matthew” Matt” Kear was born in Oceanside. Before returning to education as an NYPD officer, he enlisted and spent time in the U.S. Navy. In his prime, his father served as an officer in the 4th district during his youth, and he became a PO in the first neighborhood.
Kear, the Nassau Police Veterans Association ( NPVA ), claimed that he was a dedicated member of the organization and would always do his best to assist officers, veterans, and the organization. He was a huge fan of the New York Islanders and the Buffalo Bills.
Kear’s family made the funeral arrangements for him, according to his home. Towers Funeral Home at 2681 Long Beach Rd is scheduled for a visit. Oceanside NY on Wednesday January 29, 2025 and Thursday January 30, 2025. Dead Mass is slated for 9 a. m. on January 31, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Church on 110 Anchor Ave., Oceanside NY.
